I like to describe my style as a mixture of Eclectic, New England Preppy, and Southwestern. For our bedroom, I’d say it falls closer to the preppy side. That being said, I would never be caught dead in a pink and green room with frills and lace (Drew thanks me for that, I assure you). I like things neat, albeit it a little cluttered, but I’ll also be the first to admit that I’m a slob when it comes to putting away my clothes. One might even say I have an affinity for piles. What can I say? At least I know where things are in their respective mounds, right? RIGHT?! Ugh. I’m working on that aspect of my life, but nonetheless, this is our bedroom.
One of my favorite pieces in our room is the lobster skull print hanging above our bed. I saw it at a vendor last summer while perusing the aisles of the craft fair at The Yarmouth Clam Festival (located on the front lawn of my high school!). It was one of those serendipitous moments where I just knew it had to be mine.
In addition, the ridiculous geometric design in the corner is a DIY, washi tape job. I loved it at first, not sure how I feel about it now, but I’m keeping it up for the last month in 195 Webster. It’s quirky and fun and why not add a little more visual interest?
All in all, I’m happy with our room. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to completely gut the apartment and start over, because I’m a perfectionist, but I’m proud of myself for working with what I had on such a tight, post-college budget. I can’t wait to start on my next decoration adventure but until then, I hope you enjoy our bedroom 🙂
