Welcome to the first iteration of Tech House Thursdays!

One of the sub-genres Kayte and I have fallen in love with over the last year is Tech House. Tech House takes elements of Deep House, 90s Techno, and classic UK House music to make songs that are simple, energetic, and most of all — fun to shake it to :)! Below are two songs Tech House that we both love from the Dirtybird Record label. They’ll give you a great idea of why we fell in love with the genre (Kayte especially loves “Function”):

i think what I love most about these songs is the simplicity of the beat. None of these songs try to do too much as there’s no big build up and drop like other EDM genres. While this may seem boring to some, we both like consistency of these tracks because it allows us to be creative with our dance moves (hehe). Also, we’ve found that this type of music brings a great feel to any club setting since it’s excellent when paired with a quality light show. The crowd also tends to be more mature than your typical EDM scene and these DJs can spin for hours at about 123-125 BPM — that means the party don’t stop — so Tech and Deep House are fast becoming popular at major music festivals like Cochella, CRSSD, Electric Forest, and the HARD events.

Now that you have a feel for the vibe, I’ve been working on compiling a Tech House playlist of some other popular Tech House tracks. This is actually my third Tech House playlist and it focuses on primarily Deep Tech House tracks and is subsequently titled “Deep Tech House”:

Wanna keep the vibe going? Listen to my other Tech House playlists, “Tech It Out” and “Technically Sound” from previous Friday Music Playlists!
