This past Wednesday, February 25th, I collaborated with Whole Foods Charlestown on a Food Photography 101 Class. This event was extra special because all of the proceeds went directly towards The Whole Planet Foundation! If you’re not familiar, The Whole Planet Foundation is Whole Foods’ philanthropy that provides “grants to microfinance institutions in Asia, Africa, the Americas and the Middle East, who in turn develop and offer microenterprise loan programs, training and other financial services to the self-employed poor.” Being able to contribute to such a worthy cause not only made me feel fantastic but also brought the group closer because we knew we were coming together to support a great foundation.

The class was similar to the Sweetgreen Passport Class that I hosted a few weeks ago. We covered the basics of photography, personal style, creative process, and food styling. Before moving on to the styling challenge, Liz, Alex and I put together some example shots to show a variety of themes and styles. This time, the winners took home Mass Musings stickers and a Whole Planet Cookbook! Thank you so much to Jon Latessa of Whole Foods Charlestown for making this event such a huge success and for all of the wonderful people who came and shot some cool food with us. You guys are the reason why we smile as much as we do!
