What a year 2016 has been. I’d be lying if I said it was a great year… honestly this was the hardest year of my life and overall, I’m inclined to say it sucked. Sorry, but it’s true… and although I recognize that is the immature little girl living inside of me that’s saying that, it’s a big part of how I feel. However, there were definitely times of immense personal growth and times of utter joy over the past 12 months. I navigated through some of the realest and searing anxiety that I’ve ever known but in the end, I learned a lot about myself, about my friends, about the world, about life. So, the ever-growing adult woman inside of me has to admit that it definitely hasn’t been all bad.

Although 2016 wasn’t my finest hour, I had a ton of fun and got to collaborate in some really cool ways. I moved, lived in and explored a completely new city, experienced some wild parties and festivals, met some really awesome and creative people, hosted my first Mass Musings event, and decided that although all of that was absolutely mind blowing… it’s time to calm down a little and refocus on a lot of the things that truly make me happy.

Here are some resolutions and goals that I have for a better, more fulfilling life in 2017:

  1. Let things go

  2. Focus more on myself

  3. Rely more on myself and less on others

  4. Secure a good routine

  5. Manage time better

  6. Take better care of myself, mentally and physically

  7. Love smarter

  8. Drink more water

  9. Be better at responding to texts, emails, phone calls, etc. (this is sadly a true struggle of mine)

  10. Be happy

2016 was difficult in a lot of ways. But I’m happy it was because now I know what I don’t want out of life and feel much more prepared to go after what I do want. Here’s to a new year full of new beginnings. I hope if you’re experiencing pain, sadness, fear, grief, loss, etc. that you find peace and serenity in 2017. I hope if you had an incredible year that you harness that joy and charge forward. Whatever your experience, I have a feeling that together we can spread love and make 2017 the best year yet.
