Trust me, wanderlust is great and all but there’s something to be said for exploration. Don’t get me wrong, I have a big case of wanderlust – I want to travel to places and experience new things and meet different people. However, I don’t think that many people take the time to truly explore what’s in front of them. There are so many places right in our backyards that are yet to be unearthed!

For example, I lived in East Boston for an entire year before I discovered one of my favorite restaurants. Why did it take me so long to find it? Because for months I looked over my balcony into the shipyard, admiring the outdoor art installations and the boats, but I never went down to see it up close. I missed an entire part of Eastie that I now cherish!

Similarly, the location of this shoot is a path directly behind my office building. Had it not been for my friend Ryan and his insistence of taking me on a walk with him, I probably would never have know the path existed. Not only is it beautiful scenery regardless of season, but it sits along the water making for a peaceful time of reflection.

As you might have guessed, I’m not one for New Years Resolutions, but I am one for goals. One of my goals in 2015 is to open my eyes, look around, and go on adventures in my own city. Exploration is a beautiful thing, embrace it and live it.

  1. Yes! I think I suffer from a permanent case of wanderlust, but I am definitely trying hard to live more in the present and explore what’s right here.

    Love the boots!

  2. Your goal is wonderful – there is so much to learn right in our home town. Thanks for sharing with visible Monday! xo

  3. Some interesting boots!

  4. That’s a good goal to have! We just moved to a new home in a new neighborhood and are gung ho on exploring our local haunts rather than the more well known places to eat and drink!
