Boston’s South End is a colorful, cultured neighborhood, filled with storied brownstones, local businesses, and renowned restaurants. It’s no wonder that when Marriott and American Express teamed up for their Shop Small Pop Up program, they included three local shops from my favorite part of Boston. The goal is to expose travelers to the local businesses and give them the opportunity to enjoy what the city has to offer, regardless of their schedule. By inviting local shops to pop up in the lobby of The Boston Marriott Long Wharf, Marriott and American Express are opening the doors to greater opportunities for both retailer and customer.

You don’t have to be a guest of the Marriott to enjoy the Shop Small Pop Up! The pop-ups are open to the public until November 30th for your perusal. Can’t make it in time? Not to worry, I was able to meet up with three of the local businesses to shed some light on their visions and storefronts.

When I found out that Flock was one of the small shops popping up, I was thrilled. I’ve been a long time fan of the boutique (shout out to our Health/Wellness Editor Heather for introducing me!). The first thing I noticed when I entered the store was the chill, low-key vibe. I was greeted warmly by Britnie Harlow, who began working at Flock in March. Britnie was unimposing and friendly, two things that I judge immediately when shopping. “I think overall our vibe is whimsical and bohemian. One thing that really sets us apart is that it was started by a mother and daughter, which sets the store up to appeal to all ages.” How unique is that? I’m always looking for new places to bring my mom when she visits!

Another thing that I love about Flock is that there is a mixture of price points and a focus on other small vendors/businesses. “We try to showcase products that have their own story,” Britnie told me, “I think it adds a special element to the shopping experience.” Ummm, so basically now all I want to know is when can I move in? If you love a great vibe, awesome customer service and a leisurely shopping experience, head to Flock. Can’t make it in time for the pop up at the Marriott? No worries! You can visit them at their South End location year round!
