The universe works in mysterious ways. It brings people together, breaks them apart, creates unbelievable beauty, and challenges the mind. It also tends to make us all a little bit crazy while we try to figure out what’s going on. However, in my 25 years of life, I’ve learned that there are moments of purity and raw connection that come out of this confusion. My meeting with Caroline Mauro was one of those moments.

As many of you know, Passion Pit is one of, if not my number one, favorite music group. This past summer, I was standing with Heather and Anya waiting for the show to start when Caroline came up to us and started chatting. We all instantly clicked and conversed with ease, discussing music, business, and creativity until the set started. Looking back now, I should’ve known that the universe was trying to put together something great.

Fast forward to the next morning when I woke up with an email in my inbox from Caroline. I had made a point to follow her on Instagram during our conversation and she not only recognized the blog but was already a follower! In her email, Caroline elaborated about her business, INDA Creations, outlined that the core values matched everything that Mass Musings is about and asked if I would like to collaborate? The answer was an immediate yes.

What drew me to Caroline was her sense of passion and creative drive. I appreciate that her inspiration comes primarily from the natural world and that she has a strong personal focus on health and wellness. Not only does she put mindful thought into each of her pieces, but she takes into account the entire aesthetic of the lifestyle that she’s trying to promote. This translates into beautiful, unique pieces that can be paired with pretty much anything in my closet.

To learn a little bit more about what moves Caroline to create, I asked her two simple questions:

What is your inspiration?

INDA is inspired by the bohemian lifestyle – traveling, adventuring, exploring, wandering, creating and all of the connections you make with others along the way. The beauty of nature and Mother Earth was a big driver, with the hope that the crystals and earth stones will heal and benefit our souls; wellness and healing is a huge part of my inspiration. I am inspired by the beauty and healing properties of these stones and hope to promote and spread individuality, positivity and love – all pillars of the Inda brand and amplify spiritual development and personal growth.

Why did you decide to make jewelry?

As a fashion stylist, art director and creative, I’m always looking at ways to expand my creativity, change up the mediums I use and the ways I express myself through art. I draw on this background to curate the aesthetic and design of every INDA piece as well as the overall look and feel of the brand. Additionally it combines my love of travel; I am constantly meeting new people and seeing new places when hunting and gathering stones and crystals which keeps me inspired. I created the collection with the hopes that wearing the amulets would help others live an authentic, balanced and purposeful life.

For our collaboration, Caroline and I combined talents to produce a cohesive styled tour of the INDA brand. Because both of us are also fans of supporting small business and shedding light on local talent, we pulled in props and pieces from various other talented individuals in the area to complete the aesthetic. The final product tells the story of our friendship, our creativity, and our brands.
