Winter time in New England can be pretty brutal, especially if you aren’t from around here. I was born and raised in Maine (now living in Boston) and I still find myself a little moodier around this time of year. As you can imagine, it’s no fun to be cooped up inside with little natural light and cold air wafting around my drafty apartment. Fortunately, I’ve comprised a list of the top 3 things that keep me smiling during the winter months.

1) Big, Cozy Sweaters

I’m a huge fan of wrapping myself up in a chunky cardigan. Something about the loose fit and layering capabilities really gets me going. Currently I’m loving this super soft, Bethany Mota for Aeropostale knit cardigan. If it’s got fringe, I’m in.

2) Window Seating

Even if it’s just a small window, I always try to position myself next to a natural light source when I’m working from home. If you can’t find a natural light source to give you a boost, try a sun lamp! I have one to help wake me up in the morning and it really does wonders. 5 mins is all you need (more is better but do what you can)!

3) Let Myself Relax

Often times, in the winter, I find myself battling the lethargic mood that seems to plague me. Something that I’ve been trying to focus on is letting myself relax a little bit! Our bodies naturally want to hibernate in the winter time so it’s okay to rest a little more than you should be. It is freezing outside after all.

I hope all of you are staying warm this winter! The snow is still here from Blizzard Juno (plus a lot more from yesterday) so if you need me, I’ll be cuddled up on the couch in my comfy cardigan.
